Under the National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP), projects worth Rs. 108 trillion (US$ 1.3 trillion) are currently at different stages of implementation.
In March 2024, Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi inaugurated multiple connectivity projects in Kolkata, totaling US$ 1.8 billion.
In March 2024, the Minister of Civil Aviation and Steel announced inaugurating 15 airport projects worth US$ 12.1 billion by 2028.
Under Interim Budget 2024-25, capital investment outlay for infrastructure has been increased by 11.1% to Rs.11.11 lakh crore (US$ 133.86 billion), which would be 3.4 % of GDP.

Smart Cities Mission

Development of 100 smart cities across India. Uttar Pradesh has five smart cities under this mission: Agra, Aligarh, Allahabad, Kanpur, and Varanasi.

Pradhan Mantri Awas
Yojana (Urban)

providing affordable housing to all eligible urban households. UP has set a target of building 22.5 lakh houses under this scheme.

Heritage City Development
and Augmentation
Yojana (HRIDAY)

Varanasi and Mathura were among the cities selected for the HRIDAY scheme for the development and beautification of heritage sites and infrastructure.

Namami Gange Programme

The state government implemented sewage treatment plants (STPs) and focused on preventing the discharge of untreated sewage into the river.

Atal Mission for
Rejuvenation and Urban
Transformation (AMRUT)

This UP Govt. initiative improved urban infrastructure and services in 66 cities under this mission.

Green Initiatives

UP government also emphasized green and sustainable urban development. This included initiatives like tree planting drives, promoting green building practices, and encouraging the use of renewable energy sources.
